The Texas Pool has a garden along the back fence that attracts migrating butterflies. It was designed to help educate the public about the importance of protecting butterflies and to engage the community in gardening efforts. Volunteers help maintain the garden.

In 2019, the Butterfly Garden Volunteer team won 1st place in the non-profit category for the City of Plano’s Environmental Star of Excellence award.

Thank you to Master Gardner Sherry Fabricant Wood and the Master Naturalists of the Blackland Prairie Chapter for bringing the butterflies to the historic Texas Pool!
