The Texas Pool is open to the public every summer from Memorial Day though Labor Day.
Our hours are 11 AM – 8 PM on Tuesdays – Fridays, 10 AM- 8 PM on Saturdays and 12 PM -6 PM on Sundays. We’re closed on Mondays for maintenance and private events.
Can anyone swim at the Texas Pool?
Yes! The Texas Pool is open to tourists, visitors, members and their guests. You do not need a membership to swim at the Texas Pool. However, members receive free admission to the pool, discounts on aquatic programs and parties, reduced guest pass pricing, admission to members-only events and invitations to adults-only BYOB swim events.
Memberships start at just $150.
Can I bring my own food and drinks to the pool?
You are welcome to bring outside food and drinks to the Texas Pool. Pack a picnic lunch for your family or bring burgers to cook on our gas grills. Not sure what to cook for dinner? Pizza delivered to the pool is perfect for a summer evening!
Alcohol and glass containers are not allowed at the Texas Pool.
How deep is the Texas Pool?
The Texas Pool is a 168,000-gallon saltwater pool with a shallow “South Texas” wading area for small children, a 10-foot-deep “Panhandle” and a “North Texas” island. Guests can swim from Houston to El Paso in about 3 to 4 feet of water.
What happens if it rains while I’m at the Texas Pool?
The Texas Pool lifeguards will ask everyone to leave the water for 15 minutes if there is thunder and 30 minutes if there is lightning in the area. The pool may close early or open late if the forecast calls for continuous thunderstorms.
Is it safe to swim at the Texas Pool during the pandemic?
According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), treated water disables the coronavirus. The UV kills the virus and the outdoors/wind sweeps away the virus. We feel confident that the risk is low. HOWEVER, THERE IS A RISK that you assume by coming to the Texas Pool. COVID-19 is contagious from person to person, out of the water, and on surfaces. Check out this article for more information. It is up to you to assume this risk or not. If you don’t feel comfortable, that’s ok, we will definitely see you next year!
Disclaimer: Even though the Texas Pool has put in place preventative measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19; the Texas Pool CANNOT GUARANTEE that you or your child(ren) will not become infected with COVID-19. Further, attending the Texas Pool could increase your risk and your child(ren)’s risk of contracting COVID-19. By becoming a member (or visiting as a guest), you acknowledge the contagious nature of COVID-19 and voluntarily assume the risk that your child(ren) and you may be exposed to or infected by COVID-19.
Will everyone be required to wear a mask?
The Texas Pool encourages guests who are not vaccinated to cover their face when coming or going through the front gate area or when approaching the front desk or lifeguards.
The CDC encourages people who have not received a COVID-19 vaccine to wear a face mask when in public. However, the CDC does NOT recommend a face mask in the water as it is too hard to breathe when the mask gets wet. Therefore, we ask both you and our lifeguards to wear masks when interacting face-to-face but NOT while in the water. No masks should be worn in the water.
The lifeguards will not wear a mask on the stand. In the event of an emergency, lifeguards will need to get in the water quickly for a rescue.
Does the Texas Pool have a capacity limit?
The state of Texas no longer requires businesses to limit capacity because of COVID-19. The Texas Pool will not count guests as they enter the pool this summer but will limit parties and events during public swim hours to limit the capacity.
What is the Texas Pool doing to limit my exposure to COVID-19?

Utilizing a safety plexiglass shield at the welcome desk

What can I do to limit my exposure to COVID-19?
Disinfect your chair or table before and after use (with the provided disinfectant).
Maintain your distance from non-family members, and ensure your children socially distance parameters.
Wash your hands often and avoid touching your face.
Cover your mouth and nose if you cough or sneeze.
If you’re sick or you’ve come in contact with someone who has COVID 19 symptoms, please stay home.

All aquatic programs are currently on hold because of COVID-19. However, our lifeguard director is working on a plan to safely resume swim lessons this summer at the Texas Pool. Please check back soon for more information.
